Yesterday, the Foodbank of SEVA picked up 1,560 lbs of donations brought into Abyssinia Baptist Church during last week's food drive. That equates to about 1,300 meals provided to the hungry in our community. Great job!!!

Yesterday, the Foodbank of SEVA picked up 2,577 lbs of food from CrossRoads Church. This equates to 2,147 meals provided to the hungry in our community. This is especially important during the summer months when the Foodbank is running low on donations and the children who live in food insecure households do not have access to school lunch programs.

This past week, Abyssinia Baptist Church filled nearly 300 WeFeed bags with donations for the Foodbank of SEVA. The Foodbank is scheduled to pick the donations up tomorrow to be weighed, sorted, and distributed to those in need. When members of our community mobilize on important issues like food insecurity, as happened here, we have the opportunity to make a difference. Way to go!!

This week, Abyssinia Church and CrossRoads Church are both running food drives in collaboration with the Church Rotation Program in order to help those in need. They each received 500 bags for their congregation, now lets see who raises the most!!

Today, the Foodbank of SEVA sent trucks to Sentara Leigh and Sentara Norfolk General to pick up pallets of food for the hungry. These two hospitals have been running a food drive over the past two weeks in hopes winning the Norfolk Healthcare Collaborative Food Drive Competition and feeding those in need! When members of our community mobilize on important issues like food insecurity as Sentara has, we have a chance of making a difference. Thanks Sentara!!
